Study guides for Installation Rules and Specialised Codes.

Although the Installation Rules and the Specialised Electrical Installation Codes syllabi have remained largely unchanged since 2009, the standards and reference material on which it is based have continued to evolve. Over the years, requirements have been revised, new content has been introduced, and some older content has been amended or removed.

This can make studying from older past examination papers confusing, as some questions may refer to requirements that no longer appear in the current standards.

Our study guides help bridge that gap. They have been developed using the latest SANS 10142-1:2026 edition and clearly identify where content found in older past papers has been removed, changed or superseded, while also highlighting new requirements and content introduced in the latest standard.

One of the challenges with relying on past examination papers is that the official memorandums can contain errors, particularly in calculations and some theory answers. Our study guide identifies and flags these inconsistencies, then provides the correct answers, calculation methods, and supporting explanations so that you understand not only what the answer should be, but why it is correct.

This means you can use past examination papers with greater confidence, knowing what is still relevant, what has changed, and what should no longer form part of your current studies.
